A Workshop taught each day starts with a morning talk - How to Cope with Changing Light When Painting Plein Air - What Art Materials You Need - What and Where Do I Paint  En Plein Air?
Demonstration - You will learn how to make quick decisions and simplify what to paint for the most impact.  …
Participants will then paint until we break for lunch and are asked to start a second painting for the afternoon session, so it is suggested to work no larger than 12 x 16. Supervised painting until 4:30 pm each day. This workshop is focused on making you a faster and better painter, capturing the essence of the landscape or flowers.

Bring your paints brushes and Painting supplies - Keep in mind that this is a plein air workshop! What this means is: Everything should be portable. You should be able to carry everything in ONE trip.

Think ahead to what you might need in the field - remember - you still have to carry whatever you bring in ONE trip. Most likely, we'll be walking very little distance from the car.

Checklist for Non-Painting Plein Air Essentials: you might want • Something to sit on, such as a small cushion - a fold-up chair - a blanket    • A small table or TV tray • A beach umbrella    • Backboard for painting on - Easel - it should be portable and lightweight • Wear neutral colored clothing (creams, beiges) rather than white which can reflect too much light onto your painting or bright colors which can reflect some of their color onto your painting.

• remember to take some sunscreen, sunhat and sunglasses. Insect repellant   • Dress in layers that you can easily take off as you get hot (and put on if it gets colder).    • A bag to put rubbish in    • Large plastic bags can be useful as an emergency rain shield.

A camera is useful for recording the scene in case you want to finish or work on the painting back in your studio.
